Governor Umahi of Ebonyi State, has revealed his plans to empower over 2 million Youths within two years of his second tenure of office. He made the revelation yesterday at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Abakaliki while inaugurating the newly appointed Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants.
Governor Umahi who is so concerned about the welfare of the youths said he will like to empower both the youths and women in order to enrich them and make them millionaires. According to him;
“Sometimes, one can’t estimate how much activities can be created for the youths but notwithstanding, we are targeting 60,000 youths and women within the next two years so that we can make them millionaires, and that’s to inject about #60 billion from that year 2021. So creating activities for the youth is very important but sometimes we do not know our work. So, I want to see a more robust office in this direction.”
Honourable Mark Onu who was appointed Special Assistant for Youth Development is also the National President of Akubaroha Youth Assembly (AYA) and therefore bared his mind thus:
“I was just sworn in few minutes ago as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, I’m expected to work harder and because of that, he has added youth development into my office, I expect more Youths to be empowered. Of course, the Governor made it categorically clear that within few months, over 500,000 Youths of Ebonyi state will be empowered and we are already in the process. We do a lot of things under the government of Engr. David Nweze Umahi, to make the Youths happy and we will not relent in developing them,” said Honourable Mark Onu. He commended the Governor for all he is doing to empower Ebonyi Youths, saying that 80% of his appointees are Youths.
