…Calls for partnership on ease of doing business
Ebonyi State Government under the leadership of Governor David Nweze Umahi, has established a Tax Appeal Tribunal with the help of Ebonyi State Enabling Business Environment Committee(EBS-EBEC), which is an Inter-Ministerial Committee Constitution as approved by the State Governor and headed by the Deputy, Barr. Kelechi Igwe. According to the statement released by the Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Ease of Doing Business and Ebonyi in the Diaspora(EoDB/EBD), Hon. Deacon Collins Agbo, on Friday, 1st November, 2019 while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state Tax Appeal Tribunal is to make tax payment more convenient, peaceful, justifiable and affordable for investors and other business communities in Ebonyi State, and to also ensure that no investor is double-taxed.
Hon. Agbo further stated the readiness of the State Government to partner with other business communities for “ease of doing business” and to encourage Ebonyi businessmen and women of extraction, in order to pioneer the investment regime in the State, considering trending issues about the economy of our country, Nigeria.
He described the effort of the State Governor to take Ebonyi to a greater height as Strategical, saying this:
“The administration of His Excellency, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, in his determined effort to strategically position Ebonyi State among leading States in “Ease of Doing Business” in Nigeria, has embarked on a number of initiatives to improve the business environment in the State and to deliberately push for viable population increase by wooing Ebonyians and non-Ebonyians within and outside Nigeria to look at the direction of Ebonyi State in both their socio-political and economic ventures and plan for a home-coming to increase our population, create competitive markets and increase our GDP.”
The Special Assistant, however, stated other initiatives by the Governor, some of which include:
Creation of industrial parks in the three zones of the state;
Construction of Urban and Rural asphalt and concrete road networks to ease the movement of farm produce, goods and materials from hinterland to cities;
Interest-free loans to Farmers and Civil Servants which is aimed at creating wealth for them by enabling them to embark on various businesses of their interests geared towards reducing poverty level of the State;
Automation of the Ministry of Lands and Survey for easy registration of property and generation of documents to save time;
Ensuring Peace and Security in Ebonyi to protect lives and property;
Agreement with Solar Company in China to establish frequent electricity Supply and Distribution in Ebonyi State;
Creation of SAeodb.email@example.com which is an email address created to enable Ebonyians in the Diaspora think home and get registered, knowing that the State has changed from what it used to be to a better Ebonyi.
Hon. Agbo described Ebonyi as the most viable market in the Southern part of Nigeria and encouraged Ebonyians and other business moguls to cue into partnership with the state for Ease of Doing Business which is the matter at hand.
